about
Dopamine is a major feel good chemical. Its release makes us feel happy and reinforces the behaviour that triggers it, encouraging us to repeat the behaviour. Its the same chemical that's released when a parent stares into a new born babies eyes that strengthens the mother infant bond. Its the same chemical that is released when we get a sense of achievement or belonging and usually associated with a behaviour necessary for survival.
The darker side of dopamine proposes that with the onset of modern living more and more (innumerable, addictive) outlets, activities and mediums have been manufactured and marketed to initiate the dopamine response within us all.
Such is the intense and necessary feeling of reward and satisfaction that derives from its release that we blindly pursue the pleasure pathway to secure its release at any cost with total disregard for the destructive effect our behaviour has on the planet and unsustainable determent it continues to have on the depletion of the limited resources the planet has to offer...
Everyone is quite literally dying in a single minded search for whatever the next dopamine fixation it is that we pursue.
lyrics
Never Quite Sure , lost my beliefs, better keep outta your way.
Dont feel safe got no escape Dont got nowhere to stay
grinding me down wearing me out always forget who i am
She help me connect she tear me apart
i body dysmorphic and i dont give a dam
& i die for dopamine
Take a few risks love and avoid life as an object you own.
paint my face defined by my clothes i talk to screen on my phone
tolerate lies losing my way always remain outta reach
i left me behind cant see the sense i cant find the words and its harder to speak
& I die for dopamine
System failure sex machine employment blackspot corrupting the dream
inside my head have i seen you before A chemsex nightmare i need a bit more
& I die for dopamine
She stay a bit more start to get bored feel like i never left home.
its harder to sleep she push me theres some things you never can own.
break all the rule feel a bit used take a bit more than your share.
She started to shout i cant work it out i cant keep away and why should i care.
& I die for dopamine
love hate bow kneel laugh cry beg steal climb fall ?? bleed
fight flight truth dare rise fall fright scare give take ?? ??
work cheat place feel safe high forge deal high low down out
